The morning today was beautiful. The nerves were going, the racers were doing their race routine of warming up and stretching. The bathroom lines were long!
Amber, Lily and I did a 11 min warm up. I saw Kassie Harmon running up as we were running back to the start (one day I will be at that level… Well probably not because I am not getting any younger :)). The gun went off and the race started. I wanted to run a conservative 1st half so I could finish strong the 2nd. My 1st mile was a 5:58… Not so conservative. I backed off a lot and kept my miles at a 6:20 average until mile 7. I picked it up to about 6:10s the rest of the way.

Almost there!
I will admit… At mile 12 I wanted to back off and slow way down, but my 1st thought was, “then what would I write on my blog! That I gave up the last mile?” So I have this site to thank :). I pushed through that last mile and finished with a chip time of 1:21:23. Not my PR (personal record) on this course (1:20:48), but I did beat my last years time by almost 1 minute so I was happy!

Finished at 1:21:23
I also have some really good friends that raced well and ran their PR today (Amber, Melissa, Scott, etc.) Rachelle great job on your Park City half and winning it (she ran a 1:28 on an extremely tough course)! My husband surprised me and was at the finish line with our girls. I was so happy to see them there!!! I know he likes to do the races, but today he said he would stay home to watch the girls. I couldn’t do this without his support. What a good day and I’m glad to be done…
