Running Scared, Art Award, Track & Melt Downs
A great way to get a hard run in is to run by yourself, when it is completely dark out in an area where there are a lot of trees and shrubs with the houses far apart… Yes that was my run this morning! I did start out with a couple of friends. 15 minutes into the run one if the girls felt her previous injury flaring up and the other wasn’t feeling all that great… This route is a TOUGH route! The 1st 6 1/2 miles is steep up hill (there are places on this rout that flattens out in areas but for the most part you climb). Then it is a 2 1/2 steep down and the last 2 is flat. Well I kept going and the other 2 went a different way… At this point it was 5:30 a.m. and very dark! I was climbing up the mountain with very few houses along the way with lots of places for animals, people or whatever to hide.
I ran scared this morning. π everyone that knows me, knows that I will not run in the dark by myself (unless situations like this come up). I was supposed to take it easy going up the 6 1/2 and then tempoing it down for 5 miles but I ran the entire route hard!!! I ran very alert and a little scared. π I did cut the route short (by 3 miles) because there is a 3 mile loop that is awesome but only like 5 houses the entire way (I know I am a wimp)! I was ok with not doing it because I ran hard from 1 1/2 miles into my run until mile 10. On the 2 1/2 mile steep I was able to run it in 14:30ish. I ran it in 1:17.51. It was beautiful when I reached the top, though…
I came home and the girls asked if they could give Corom and I a back rub… We are training them young. π
My neighbor watched the 2 younger girls while I went to the chiropractor and lifted 10 minutes worth of weights…
I felt a little pain in my butt again so I went right in and I don’t feel it anymore! Dr. Crockett is so good. I actually had a free back massage for 15 minutes while I was waiting… Can’t go wrong with that.
Corom went to the high school today dressed up in his bunny outfit with an Easter basket… He was answering back in behalf of Z (our foreign exchange student) to the young man that asked her to prom. He did his little hops through the school during lunch time looking for him. The kids thought it was great and weird. π The boy loved it.
I (and the 3 younger girls) went to a PTO meeting… Yes, I was talked into being the PTO president for next year. Yeah… That should be interesting.
I went to the meeting to see what goes on in them… Yeah, this should be interesting.
We, then went to the art (Reflexions) contest awards. My oldest took 3rd in K through 2nd grade with her project. She was sooo excited!!!
Corom and I were very proud of her.
I had track practice. They went on an easy 4 mile run with 3 more laps around the track using the straight aways as strides.
We were supposed to do movie night with the girls but of course they didn’t clean their rooms and the time kept getting later so I had to cancel “movie night” with the girls… They look forward to this all week. This is what happens…
Pretty awesome!!! I don’t know who was punished more… Hopefully they have learned their lesson. Probably not though! π
I love the bunny reply! So awesome. Congrats on the art prize. Well deserved. Also love the meltdowns. Classic!
Sarah would you want to write up your “running” story for my blog for the month of April? If not that is fine…. Just let me know! Thanks.
Oh my gosh that would be a huge honor. Thanks so much for thinking of me. I don’t know how exciting my story is but it would certainly be fun. Just let me know what you would like to me to do!
