Running, Track & Family Night

I woke up at 5:15 a.m. And met up with Amber to go on a 55:54.00 minute run (almost 8 miles)… I felt good and ran a solid run.
I did help in my kindergartener’s classroom for their testing…

It is so fun to see how much the kids have improved from the beginning of the year to now! Good kids!
A neighbor and I (Lindsey) and our kids hung out and then off to track I went. The kids’ legs were all pretty tired from this last weekend’s meet. We have a meet tomorrow… An invitational (state qualifier)… So I told them to go on a recovery/shake out run. They went on a 4.78 mile loop and finished off with an 800 with strides.

After practice, the girls, Corom and I met up with G-goat (Corom’s mom) and she had the girls pick out 30 baby chicks… The girls were so excited! We will take 5 home with us once they can be put outside. Cute little chicks!

One or two might be dead by morning due to the man-handling of my 2 younger girls. :/
We then went to the Preston’s for a family night activity with the Whites. We had a good time and Barbara shared a nice lesson with us and our girls…

The Sunday Routine

Well at church today, Corom was set apart (put in) as the 2nd counselor in the Bishopric. :/ It will be a growing experience for the both of us! (I would elaborate more on this but it is late and I’m tired. :))
After church we had a few families over for an early dinner… Holdaways, Carlisles, Burks, & J. Anderson. We had a good time and visit… Our 2nd child had fun with Kitty, our dog…

She really is a good dog with the kids!
We had a few church meetings (Corom will have a lot more now :)) and then came home and hung out.

Track Meet & Hanging Out

Started off the day with going to the 2nd day of the Kearn’s Relay track meet… The kids did well and the meet went by fast (it was cold today)!

I went on a 56:40 minute run but it was not all in one run. I did have to break it up between races but I ran at a moderate to hard pace. (Well not that hard :).) It was a good solid pace. I got back from my run and the kids had made Oreo pancakes for me on the grill they brought. They tasted so good!

We have a good group of kids that make sure the coaches are taken care of. 🙂 Here are some pictures of their races…

At home we hung outside and goofed around for a while…

Stroller Running, Track Meet

Today was an extremely hard run and for the 1st 20 minutes of my run was either a gradual up hill or steep up hill. There were a few times I would have to take 1 or 2 steps of walking just to get back into the groove. I love hills but running hills with this bad boy…

20140321-160801.jpg
… Was HARD. The weight total on that stroller was 205 lbs. 160 lbs of kid weight and 45 lbs of stroller weight. I thought that going down hill would be nice and easy but both back tires were completely flat so it wasn’t that nice and it wasn’t that easy…

They were flat before I started but I figured it wouldn’t be that hard and I HAD to get a run in. Oh… Within the 1st 2 minutes I wanted to stop and go home. But because of my obsessiveness of running I did run for a total time of 47:56.22. Here in our city there are no flat routes (unless I wanted to run on a busy road)… My arms and legs were burning. So I don’t know how far I ran but it was a great workout and I was tired.
My 2 older daughters went to a birthday party and my 2 younger ones hung out with me at the house (there is no school today).
In the early afternoon I headed off to a track meet. It is an all relay meet for running and field events. It is a fun meet to watch and we (the kids and coaches) have a good time there. Here are a few pictures of the meet…

We also barbecued there… The coaches had steak, skewered vegetables and a baked potato… It was a good dinner! Thanks to the kids that cooked it up for us!

I came home to a very clean house and kids in bed… The babysitter did great today. I was pleasantly surprised!
I talked with Corom and he is having a great time at Youth Conference with the youth in our ward/church- it is a weekend filled with fun, emotional and spiritual growth, friendship building, etc. I’m glad he is having a good time but I can’t wait to see him!

Running, Track & Game Night

I began my day with a 50:32 minute run. Amber and I both felt a little lousy today so we went easy and just wanted to get a run in. I did finish off my run with 7 strides. I wanted to end with a faster stride (cadence). I think I ran about 6 1/2+… But I don’t know for sure.
After getting the girls off to school and working at the book fair again for the school…

20140320-193149.jpg
…I went to the gym to lift a few different weights. This was my 1st time using a few of these weight machines so to be honest I had no clue what I was doing!

20140320-193710.jpg
I did the lat pull 60 in back total and 30 in front total (Between 40 & 50 lbs). I did calf lifts (80 lbs) and I used the quad weights (30 lbs). Next I used the pull-up machine and I put it at 70 lbs. I did 30 total. I only spent about 10 to 15 minutes in the gym. Anyone have any ideas on the best weights to do for running????
After the neighbor kids went home, I (and the kids) left for track. The high school kids went on a 5-7 mile run. Some of the kids legs are still really tired so they went an easy pace the entire way… For those that felt good (they ran the same route) but I had them add 3 x 1 minute faster pace. Nothing too big but something for the leg turnover for Saturdays meet (it is a 2 day meet so some race on Saturday and some on Friday and some both days).

The girls had fun at practice… I usually go to the half way point to check on everybody. The girls were able to get out and mess around on the dirt trail.

20140320-215322.jpg
Corom and Z left for Youth Conference (a church weekend activity). I had a few friends over with their kids because their husbands also went on the church outing. We ordered pizza, the kids played, had brownies, suckers, popcorn, watched a movie, and played night games… My girls even had soda – very rare occasion. 🙂

The girls had a blast and I had fun hanging out with the other moms. Now it is late and I want to relax.
