We got the 2 older kids off to school and I gained 3 more…

On Fridays I babysit for a friend of mine. In the mid afternoon the kids and I went over to my friend Emilee Stoke’s house to hang out and visit. The kids had a blast…

After dinner Z (our Foriegn Exchange student) and I went to Stephanie Ringal’s house. She had a Jamboree and Fondue party.

It was really nice and fun and she had great stuff there. Sensory, nail and Fondue stuff. I had to leave early, though because Corom had to leave on a scout camp out. They are going to freeze! It is funny because they are camping out in our neighbors backyard (they do have a huge backyard)… Now the girls and a neighbor and I are doing movie night!

Fun times… My girls get to watch 2 movies a week (no other TV… I know I am weird but oh well) and they always get so excited for “movie” night!
Today was a good run. Amber and I ran the “dairy ” loop (it has quite a few hills in it). It was very windy this morning and as any runner knows, sometimes you really love the wind or dislike it. For one of the hills, I really loved it. A huge gust came and brought us up that beast faster than what we intended to do. I was also told to be grateful for running in the wind. It will improve your form so much if you are running against it. It helps you drive your arms and your body will naturally lean forward (that was one if the things Hawk talked about in one of his clinique’s). So I guess you could say it was a mini Fartlek workout. 🙂 We ran 7.2 in 53:55. I felt good and pushed hard on the up hills! I do LOVE hills! 🙂

I tried taking a picture (with the flash on) but it still didn’t turn out so well. Despite the wind and cold, it was still a beautiful morning. Thanks Amber for running with me!
At dinner time we always ask our girls individually how their day was and what they did. In the middle of our 2nd child’s account of her day our 4th daughter decides to be obnoxious (which is nothing new), and stands on her chair and begins to jump up and down. We hear a crash and look over and their is our 4th with her face in her mashed potatoes…

I could not get my camera in time! She wiped off a lot of it. She was just about to cry when we all started to laugh… It was probably not good that we laughed but we couldn’t help it. Now she thinks it’s funny. Z (our Foriegn Exchange student) could not stop! Good times. It was good that we did get a good laugh… I came home grumpy from practice today and was not being the nicest person to my kids and husband. I felt bad later because I don’t know why I was grumpy!!! 🙂 Oh well… What can you do…
Cross country practice was tough today! They started off with a little over a mile and a half warmup. Then we went on the track for the first time (maybe 2nd) this season…

We were missing a good number of kids today… Half of the runners that are going to California were there, the other half are doing other sports now or I would say lazy but that is not the right word… It was also freezing and snowing. Anyway, back to the workout…

I had them run 1 1000 at 5k race pace, 2 800’s at a little faster than 5k race pace, 3 600’s at 2 mile race pace, and 2 400’s at a fast 400… Give it what they could.

They worked hard and were tired. I actually found this workout in The Runner’s magazine. It was a great article and has great benefits for a race that is a couple of weeks away…

After the workout, they finished off with a little over a mile and a half cool down with stretches inside the school. These are good dedicated kids who work hard. The season is almost over and I know that they are sad about but also at the same time ready for it… That probably makes no sense to any of you. 🙂

I went to Runner’s Corner today to talk with Hawk (and to drop off something for my friend Kassie). Hawk is a great person! I walked in and they (Hawk,Cheryl and 2 other employees) were in the middle of a project. He stopped what he was doing to talk running with me. We went over my goals and my aspirations. He was a great help, gave me great advice, and I am excited on what is to come. I have been going there now for almost 10 years to get my running shoes and there has not been one time where I have not felt welcome in that store. The employees are very personable and truly want to help you out! Hawk has taken the time (on many different accounts) to come to our cross country camps, track practices, etc. to do cliniques with the high school kids. He (and his family) know all there is to about running (well almost everything :)). I am grateful for the help!
