I met up with a few friends (Mac, Aubrey, Amber and Julia) and we went for a 15 min warm up. Amber needed to get a speed work out in so we decided to do one with her. I was a little more conservative on this speed because my legs are tired from this past weekend. We modified the workout from what was planned (the 800’s) and we ran an 800 speed around the track(half a mile; 2 laps around the track) with a 200 (half a lap) recovery jog. Then we ran a 400 speed (1 lap around the track) with a 100 (straight away on the track) recovery jog continued with another 400 speed with 100 recovery jog. That was one set. we did two sets at a total of 2 miles worth of speed. (1×800 & 2×400 for a set.) I was dreading it this morning wondering if my legs would be OK and if mentally I would be OK. I felt good, though. I did not time any of the 800’s or 400’s and I think that helped knowing this workout was a little extra this week. After we went on a cool down run (about 3 miles). I ran about 7 1/2+ miles in 1:00.55. Tomorrow will be easy!

We had a high school cross country meet in Nephi canyon. It is a fast, fun course. The kids did really well! The other coach and I brought our bikes to ride the course back and forth (it was a point A to point B course).

Yes I am giving the kids a pep talk at the starting line! 🙂 The boys and girls Varsity team and boys JV team took 1st overall (they didn’t have the results for the JV girls yet but we think they took 1st or 2nd). We were very pleased with how they ran.

After we got off the bus to go on our merry way, a couple of the kids thought it would be funny to dump the water from our big water cooler (filled with ice) on my head. I seriously could not move, it was so cold! One of the moms caught it on camera…
I met up with Rachelle this morning and went for a nice 8.1 mile run. It was a nice conversational pace. It took us 1:03.15 (about a 7:47 pace). The morning was beautiful and the temperture was perfect. My legs were not sore at all (which I was a little surprised by that) but they were tired. I love running days like today!
G-goat (Corom’s mom; the girls call her that instead of grandma-Corom’s fault), my 2 older daughters and I went to the play Shrek in Payson. (Corom hung out with our 2 younger daughters.) It was so good! The girls loved it!

They were so afraid to go near Shrek because they thought he was real (kind of my fault though… Throughout the play they kept asking me if he were a real ogre and I said yes every time). To get them to take their picture with him I had to tell them who he was. He is actually Amber’s husband (Amber is one of the people I run with on a regular basis). They came over for dinner last night so the girls were a little surprised. 🙂 It was a great play!

When we got home the girls found a snake and caught him…

They have no fear!!! I made them let it go after a while of it being held and passed around. My oldest cried for almost an hour straight because she wanted to keep it for a pet… What do you do? (Thank goodness it was around bed time. :))
