Today is my rest day from running. I have to say that I love my rest day! I look forward to Sundays because I know I can sleep in and relax with the family (well relax as much as I can with the kids ;)). I am sore today. And I don’t know about you, but I love being sore after a race or a good workout!

Corom and I went to the Southern Boil at the Clarion Manor in Payson tonight with 26 of our friends. We had crabs, clams, crawdads, corn on the cob, potatoes, etc. and we ate it out of a tin container with our fingers. It was a blast and the food was sooo good! They do events like this often and I don’t think Corom and I have missed any of them. Next month in September they are serving stuffed salmon and steak (you all should come)! There website is clarioneventcenter.com
We went to the movies… Any idea what movie we watched?
Monster’s University! It was way funny.
So after the movie all my kids go running out of the theatre and I have to chase them around. I look up and I see a track coach that coaches at another school with his 4 daughters. His daughters were walking right next to him, quietly. Then I see Melissa and her family as was one of my girls books it out the main door. I tried to hold a conversation, but that didn’t work either. Another friend of mine Camille and her family was there, same thing (I was unable to talk). My girls would not listen and ran around like it was McDonald’s playground. I finally got them in the car (it was mainly the 2 younger ones… They feed off of each other). I lectured them all the way home. The 2 younger ones were sent to their rooms. The most frustrating thing is they didn’t care. Sometimes I feel that nothing is working and I am not getting through to my kids! What do I do?
The morning today was beautiful. The nerves were going, the racers were doing their race routine of warming up and stretching. The bathroom lines were long!
Amber, Lily and I did a 11 min warm up. I saw Kassie Harmon running up as we were running back to the start (one day I will be at that level… Well probably not because I am not getting any younger :)). The gun went off and the race started. I wanted to run a conservative 1st half so I could finish strong the 2nd. My 1st mile was a 5:58… Not so conservative. I backed off a lot and kept my miles at a 6:20 average until mile 7. I picked it up to about 6:10s the rest of the way.
It is 9:40 pm and I am going to actually attempt going to bed this early. My friend and one of many running partners, Amber, is coming by early in the morning. The buses are leaving at 5:15 to take us up the canyon. My husband and kids are not home yet from their Strawberry Lake adventure, so I am going to take advantage of that and go to bed. Oh… Never mind I hear them pulling in so I better hurry up and pretend I’m sleeping!
