I wanted to get to bed early so my husband (Corom) said he would write about the day… As he put it… Epic Fail. I think he did a great job. π
Another rest day for me and normally I would be excited but since my injury I’m kind ofΒ bummed about not running. We went to church not knowing that the girls had planned a stowaway with the big teddy bear and hid him in the back of the van. As w head into church the girls pulled big old a Teddy out of the car and started dragging into church. Luckily We stopped them before they got to the door.
Then the weather was so nice that the girls wanted to do a picnic in the front yard, so we did. It was so great! Then Corom took the 2 older girls on a walk through a field and came home with interesting stuff. A horse hoof was one of them, weird, right?
After they came back the other two girls wanted to go for a walk so we did. This ended up being a neighborhood walk as we collected people as we walked. Saw some horses and fed them and my youngest got her hair sucked on by one of the horses. Came home had an easy dinner of eggs and potatoes and put the girls to bed. Was that a day of rest, it’s not really sounding like it after all.
Corom came home early from his scout camp out this morning and we all went to his basketball game (well the team he coaches). The boys won in overtime… It was a fun game to watch!

I went to South Valley Gym to use their spin bikes… I went when there wasn’t a class going on… So I had the room to myself and the fan to myself. It was peaceful, but the hour took forever. I rode for 1:00.13. I then did the lat pulls and walked home.

We cleaned house ALL day. The girls were put in their rooms to clean. I told them as soon as they were done they could play with friends… 2 rolled around and the 2 older girls finally finished. They played with friends, the younger 2 stayed in their rooms until dinner. It was quite the day! π
After bedtime, a few neighbors came over to play games. We had a good time.
I forgot to mention that yesterday was grandparent’s day for my kindergartener. Neither one of her grandparents could come (my parents live in California and my mother-in-law is watching my other niece and nephews for the week). So she adopted a good friend of ours as her grandma… Karen Booth- G-Roo. π
This morning I had my bike set up on the trainer in my living room. I rode for 1:01.56.

It wasn’t the same as running but it was a good work out, none-the-less. I did my sit-ups right after. Well, hopefully I will be able to be out and running soon!
It was a nice day out, so I let the girls play out on the kindergarten playground for a while… I talked my friend Camille to hang out with me (with her kids). There were a lot of kids that came over today…
I met up with a few track kids at South Valley Gym today to give them an after workout, tread workout. (This week we have off from track… Outdoor track starts Monday.) The kids that I met up with still wanted to meet up to get their work outs in. I told them to go on a 45 minute run and to meet me at the gym. When they finished up their run, I put them on the treadmill. They turned it up as high as it could go (or as high as their level of ability) and ran hard and fast for 5 minutes.

Then they had a 1 minute break and ran at a 5 percent incline with it a notch slower (not much slower… 1 kid went from 12 to 11.5) for 2 min. 1 minute break then put the incline up to 10. They weren’t able to run as fast (the one kid brought it to 10.5) and ran for 1 min. It is tough!!! They had a 1 minute break. Then they brought the speed back up to 12 and the incline back to 0 and ran hard for 1 minute. It was tough for me to watch, I can only imagine how tough it was for them. π

I came home, Corom had to leave on a scout camp out. I had the E. Stokes’ and kids, S. Carlisle and kids, and the Prettyman’s (her husband was able to come because he got home early from work) over for dinner (Navaho tacos)… The husbands had to work or were on the scout camp out… Lucky us! π
The girls and I sat down and did movie night. Fun times…
Before I get on with my normal, daily write up I am going to share some frustrations! It was around October/November that I made the decision to switch over to training hard for the longer distance races (half to full marathons). I have always loved racing the 5ks and 10ks. Then I ran the St. George marathon and ran a time of 2:54.20. I felt great; I felt like I could have ran faster and I knew that if I would have trained properly for a marathon I could have done better. So my mind started shifting towards the longer runs and wanting to race them competitively.
I started to train hard and began to put more mileage in. (I went from 35-40 miles a week to 45-53 miles a week- slowly I am building mileage up) I felt great… I raced a 5k earlier this month and my time was 33 seconds faster than last years time. It was like that for a couple of other races (St. George 1/2 and Footlocker 5k).
I decided that I wanted to get my marathon time down to 2:40 this year… But lately I have been feeling aches and pains that I have never felt (I guess that is what happens when you train and put a lot of mileage in- and for getting older :)). About a month ago my left foot (the ball of my foot) started to irritate me but it wasn’t that big of a deal… Of course each day I could feel it a little more. After today’s easy 5 mile run (40:45) and feeling my foot and the pain… I have dreadfully come to the conclusion that I should switch to doing spin and swimming for the next week or 2.
Aghhh, I am so bummed and I want to cry but I don’t know what to do. I am going to make an appointment with podiatrist (foot doctor) tomorrow… I know I should take time off now and stop now before I do real damage. I just hate that I am having these issues now that I have made up my mind to try to go all out.
I guess I will have to wait and see what the Doc says… In the meantime I will try out other things that I don’t usually do! Any suggestions? I know swimming is great but I have no clue on what to do in a pool (except to doggy paddle).
This is Corom helping me with an orthodox and cutting out a little spot in the orthodox where my foot hurts… What a man! π
As I stated earlier… I went on an easy 40:45 minute run and put about 5 miles in. It was a beautiful morning…
My 2nd child lost her 1st tooth this morning… She is so excited!!!

Corom had the day off today so he got a lot of projects/cleaning done today. It was great! My oldest worked on her art-peacock project with the clay for the Reflections contest.

She has a month (I believe) to get it done. She is really good with art and being creative!
We took dinner over to a neighbor who just got into a car accident… It took us about 20 minutes to get our girls back in the car because they were loving their yard…

After dinner, I went to a church meeting with our foreign exchange student, Z. It was a young women’s activity (girls between the age 12-18), called New Beginnings. It was a very nice program and Z (not being the same Faith as us) was one of the speakers. She did a wonderful job and everyone adores her.

Z and I came home… Corom left to go play basketball and I checked on the girls (they were sleeping)…

I hope she doesn’t get a kink in her neck or a leg cramp. π
