I decided at the last minute this morning to get up and head to Orem (25 minutes away) to race in a 5k race. I knew that if I didn’t do this race I would have a hard time running today with a tempo. Corom was very supportive and encouraged me to go… So I put on my Runner’s Corner racing jersey and racing attire and headed to the race. I met up with a lot of the other racing team members of Runner’s Corner…

We ran a little over 5 miles (40:32) for a nice little run, warmup, to throw in extra miles, etc. before the race. I ran 2 strides before the race (at the starting line) did about 15 to 20 hops on each leg and then waited for the gun. The course was flat, then a good mile down and flat, then a mile and a half up hill to the finish line. I do love hills! I was in 2nd the entire way until the last 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile left. I pulled in 1st and was able to hold on to that spot. I really look up to Amber Andrews (the girl that took 2nd). She is one of my role models and I know that if she was in shape I wouldn’t stand a chance. She has only been running about twice a week!

My time was 18:23.0. After my race, Amber, Josse, and I ran back to run our friend Rachelle in from the 10k. She was the 10k top finisher with our friend Rebecca in 2nd. I ran a mile back with Rachelle and continued on for a cool down. The guys all ran great, too.

They did the awards and I won a season (a year) pass to the Hale Theatre (I love plays), a year pass to Thanksgiving Point, and in the raffle… An hour ride for 2 in a Hot Air Balloon! That kind of freaks me out.

We all had a great time and it is fun connecting with all our fellow running friends from around Utah County and Salt Lake…
I went to my chiropractor to get foot X-Rays today (it was cheaper to get X-Rays at his office then at the office by the hospital). Dr. Crockett also did some adjusting to my foot… It actually feels better.

We shall see what happens. 🙂
It was the 100th day at school today. My kindergartener dressed up as an old lady…

My girls started to battle it out today so Corom and I made them hug each other for 1 minute. It was the longest minute.

After the girls had dinner, Corom and I went out with a few friends. We had a fun time.

We then came back and watched a movie. I don’t remember the name… It was that cheesy! I was totally shocked when Megan fell asleep. 🙂 Actually… I was a little jealous.
At 5:30 a.m. I met up with a few friends and we went for an easy 55:38 minute run. We went easier/slower than what I would have liked but due to the dark and ice covered roads this morning, we had no choice but to go at a “cautious” pace. At the end of my run I was able to do 4 strides on a piece of road that was clear. I did the 2×50 leg hops to finish the workout. I don’t know how far I ran (assuming around 6+ miles) but it was a good shakeout run. I was in a funk this morning, though. With the fallen Sheriff in our County it just put me in a down mood… I didn’t know who he (Sergeant Wride) was (Corom had his background interview with him when he was going through the hiring process) but I still feel an ache (when something like this happens) for those that fight for our safety. It saddens me and my prayers go out to his family!

For those living in or near Utah County… The Clarion Gardens is holding their annual Valentine’s Dinner. Corom and I have gone every year to this event (and to all the other dinners they have held). There are 2 different dates you can attend, a non formal and formal night. Their food is phenomenal and the entertainment is great.  So men… if you have not already planned a special evening to the one you want to spend time with, get your reservation now!
Unfortunatley, this will be the 1st event Corom and I will not be able to make of theirs… we have yet to tell the chef and event planner (the Carter’s)… I think they will be shocked that we have made other plans. Corom and I will actually be in Florida running Ragnar (Florida Keys) with the Founder of the race. He invited us to run on his team and we could not pass up the offer!
Now to today’s events… Corom and I picked up all the girls from school (after Corom went on his run). After we picked up our kindergartener, we went into the school and had lunch with our oldest…

Then I actually went to lunch with 7 friends of mine to the Pizza Factory. There were 2 birthdays we were celebrating. I made a mean salad!

It was good and I really enjoyed the company! I only had about an hour to hang out but it was worth it. I headed to a doctor’s appointment for my foot… The ball of my left foot has been bothering me, so I decided to check it out. Tomorrow I will get an X-Ray (just to make sure… To be on the safe side). Corom had a therapy session to go to, so the girls and I went to in-door track.

I sent the distance kids on a Fartlek run. They went on a 7 mile loop (Dairy Loop) with the first 2 1/2 miles as a warmup.

They began a Fartlek from 2 1/2 miles to 6 miles. 1 minute hard then a 2 minute recovery, repeated for 3 1/2 miles. They ran the last mile as a cool down.

They finished off with strides and the 2×50 leg hops. They were tired and sore when they came back. 🙂 This evening Corom went and helped a friend out (Mike Fullmer) and my Visiting Teacher came over.

Amber and I went out for an easy run today (about an 8 minute pace)… It was a warm morning today due to the snow cloud coverage. We didn’t get to much snow but it sure was slushy this morning. My feet were wet by the time I finished but I really enjoyed this run! I ran a total of 1:00.56. My legs needed this recovery day.
