Morning Run

I got up at 4:45 a.m. to go out for a run. I was sooo tired! I went to bed at 9:30 last night… Not bad but then my mom called at about 11:30 p.m. One of my sister’s kids had a pretty bad earache. We called our good friend Mike Fullmer (he is also our pediatrician) and he helped us out with advice… Long story short, I didn’t get to much sleep (my poor mom, I can’t complain with the amount of sleep I got when she didn’t get any). So I had an easy day; thank goodness. I ran for 1:09.43 and put in about 8 1/2 miles. I really felt tired throughout the entire run but I’m glad I got it in and I was able to run with 3 other people (Mac, Aubrey and Holly).

A Short Post

Church was good and the girls were good. We had a nice lunch together as a family and then I (and my 3 younger girls) headed up to my sister’s to watch my nieces and nephews so my mom (she is watching them for the week) could take a break and visit her sister and other relatives in Salt Lake. It was a chaotic night but I didn’t mind it. I sat back and watched and every once in a while I would intervene. 🙂 The kids loved it…

My mom had a good time so I am glad about that. Z our Foriegn exchange student went with her (I don’t blame her for wanting to go). Corom and my oldest went to a preparatory Baptismal meeting. She is going to be baptized this year! They came home and continued their sewing frenzy… (Yes Corom sews and my oldest wants to learn how… I don’t). 🙂
It was my rest day from exercise… Very nice!

Cleaning, Soccer and Birthday Celebration!

The girls and I went to the church this morning to clean. There were a couple of other families that came to help also. (It was our “blocks” turn this week.) Corom planned his scout camp out just right… Come back right after we were done cleaning. 🙂

We were able to get it all done in an hour!
I went to my indoor soccer game while Corom went to coach his basketball team’s game. At the soccer game I actually scored a goal… My brother kicked it to me (I was near the opposing goal)… I closed my eyes and kicked the ball… Well it went in! But that never happened again for me. 🙂

It was so much fun playing! I am not that good but oh well… I had fun.

Corom and the girls met up at my sister’s house right after the game… My mom is in town watching my sister’s kids. It is my mom’s birthday today so we (my family and my little brother’s family) went up for dinner, cake and hanging out.

My mom is the most amazing person! She is always doing things for others and her and my dad have been the best examples for me and my siblings! This is Z (our foreign exchange student) and my mom in the kitchen together…

Now we are watching a movie with the Fullmer’s.

Long Tempo Run On A Treadmill!

I had to do my long tempo run in the treadmill! Corom is gone on a scout camp out so I had the entire night to mentally prepare for this run. I ran at a easy to moderate pace for 43 minutes and then began a 30 minute tempo.

20140125-112927.jpg
The bad thing about my treadmill is that it is so old that the miles get messed up. For example… My “2nd” mile of warming up at a slow pace was faster than my 1st tempo mile by a couple of minutes. So I went by time and off of feel for this run.
As I said I went for 43 min at an easy pace than to a moderate pace… From 43 min to 1:13 I ran at a hard solid pace. The last 10 minutes of the tempo I wanted to stop! I felt a little dizzy (and that has to do a lot with no water, being inside and having the heating vent right next to me). My legs were burning and my body was tired from this workout. I knew I had to finish the 30 min tempo or I would be disappointed in myself! I did a 9 minute cool down and finished with a total of 1:21.49.

The bad thing about this workout is I do not know how many miles I ran and what my tempo mile pace was but the great thing about this workout is… I didn’t know how far I ran and my mile tempo pace! There is no disappointment if I didn’t hit the marks that I wanted. 🙂 Now I can just assume I did. Oh and this was the longest I have ever run on a treadmill… It wasn’t to bad.

My Run to Awards to Cheating to Indoor Track Meet

I could barely get up this morning! I knew if I didn’t get up and meet with people for my run, I would not run as far as I should. We met at 5:30 a.m. And set off on an easy run. I ran a total of 1:01.53 (about 7 1/2 miles)… I was really tired today! Thank goodness for a easy day!
I went to my 2nd graders school this morning. She had earned a STAR award.

She was so excited! Her sister (kindergartener) was just as excited for her…

The 3 younger girls had a little too much fun with the neighbor girl and her makeup. …

Cheating…
My oldest got into the car with not much to say after school. I looked at her and asked what was wrong. She started to cry and handed over her spelling test…

20140124-224026.jpg
Ohhh… She was caught cheating! She found a paper in her desk that had some of the spelling words on them… She was so upset and scared and embarrassed, etc. I was feeling the same emotions as my daughter but I was also shocked! My daughter was so sad and tears just kept streaming down her face. I had her come sit on my lap (in the driver’s seat) and before we pulled out we had a little talk. I called the teacher and both my daughter and I talked with her. She is a great teacher. She did tell me that she was not the 1st to be caught and she won’t be the last. I know (and her teacher agrees) that she will not be doing that again… Well hopefully. Of course… The day she gets an award… :/

I had a babysitter come over (that is another story on its own) because I had to go to a indoor high school track meet at the Olympic Oval in Kearns and Corom went on a scout camp out… Any way the track meet went well! We had a few guys PR (personal record) and quite a few come very close to their outdoor time in track last year. That is a great place to be in going into a new season!

Our top distance runner ran the 2 mile today and out ran the top 2 guys on the last straight away to the finish to win the race. His best 2 mile was a 10:07 and tonight he ran it in 9:38… It was an exciting race to watch.

This was me in-between the races… Riding a bike, while reading a book and eating a sandwich… Is there any better way to spend a Friday night? 🙂
