Spring Break Week, Puppies, & No Running :/
Wednesday: Well after the work done on my calf and Achilles… I decided not to run. ugh!!! I sent the distance runners off on their run (which was freezing today) and I headed over to the gym to ride 45 minutes on the bike and then to do 10 minutes on the eliptical. I went straight to the chiropractor for more laser treatment, adjustment, scraping and K2 tape.
Due to the coldness outside, we decided to make it a craft day. We went to the $1 store and then to Joanns to buy little crafts. We painted, colored, used glitter and glue, etc. It was a nice afternoon.
The girls had a story night/slumber party in the Foriegn exchange students room. 🙂
Thursday: I decided to go for a 2 mile run this morning and then I was going to hop on the bike. Well a mile and a half into my run, I felt something pop in my lower calf, with a pain that shot up my leg. I had to call Corom to pick me up. I felt bad for Corom! He didn’t know what to say to me or do with me when I got in the car… I just started to cry.
I had to go to track practice soon after so I pulled myself together and headed over to the HS. I am so grateful for the other coaches and for one of our team captains. She, too, is injured and volunteered to help time for the speed workout today so I could go to the gym and ride the bike. I think that saved me this morning!!! After riding for 1:03 minutes, I felt a lot better! My sister and her 4 kids came over to hang out for the day.
The kids played around the pond, caught snakes, tadpoles & little fish. They were loving it. We took them to the discounted movie theatre to see Paddington. Cute movie.
I received a text from Tyler Shepard (from Endurance Athletics, the running store) asking if I were ok. I come to find out that he saw me walking home this morning. I explained what had happened… He shows up with this stuff…
Tyler and his wife Kelly, are 2 of the most amazing people I know. They are so giving to everyone. I didn’t know what to say but I am so appreciative! I also had the team captain (Amber) stop by with some goodies and a nice, uplifting letter. (The things I have learned from the HS kids… Amazing!) I guess I was a little off today.
Right at dinner time, Kitty (our English Mastiff), went into labor. It was exciting, exhausting, long and a neat experience.
She had her 1st puppy at 5:15 p.m.ish and the last one at 9:30 a.m.ish the next morning. Our neighbors the Hall’s came over to help. And then Mike (our good friend & pediatrician) came after he got off work. It was nice having help… One was breeched, so Corom had to go “in” and help pull it out. Mike suctioned the stuff out of the mouth and nose to get it to breathe. She had 10 puppies with 1 not making it. So 9 puppies. I was tired, so I can only imagine how Kitty was feeling! They are cute little buggers!
Friday: I did go to the gym this morning (in between puppy delivering) for a 60 minute ride. Nothing like running but at least it’s something! I took our Foriegn exchange student to the store (with all the girls), and then we went to Costa Vida. I ran into the regional manager, which is a running friend of mine. He hooked us up with our lunch. 🙂 It was a nice visit with him (when I didn’t have to turn and yell at my girls to take a seat :)). It’s also my youngest’s birthday tomorrow so they brought a cake out for her…. It was gone in 20 seconds the way my girls devoured it.
I went to a doctor’s appointment today to have my calf/Achilles checked out…
They did an ultra sound on my leg to see if there was a tear… No tearing which is a great sign but there are some vessels ruptured and a little bit of a pull. He is putting me on a medication to help it heal. Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday I can start running. We shall see! At home, the foreign exchange student wanted to make dinner for us (which was so good)…
Corom and the girls were across the street at the neighbor’s house/pond. The girls lost their minow trap so Corom went in looking for it. The girls cleaned the garage for them to show them they were sorry. And they used their Easter egg hunt $ to buy a new one. They gave them a new one and Corom found their old one at the bottom of their pond. 🙂
The rest of the night, I held the puppies and then Corom and I watched a movie.
Awww puppies! That will definitely brighten your day. I am so sorry your dealing with issues and I hope you are back and running again soon. Sounds like you are being really smart about this and that is the best you can do. I know how frustrating it can be. Take care!
Thanks Sarah! It is way hard but there really isn’t anything I can do about it until it heals.
