I put in a 15.2 mile tempo run thanks to my running friends. I first started off my morning at 4:45 a.m. This is what it looked like that early (a nice full noon):

I gave a work out to the people that I train and then I went for my workout at a little before 6. We (Rachelle, Amber, Mac & I) started in Salem, ran up to Woodland Hills, went through Elkridge, and into Payson back to Salem totaling 15.2 miles (Mac and Amber split off from Elkridge). We climbed the mountain (with a few breaks of flat running) for the first 8.4 miles. Right when we reached the top we started our tempo run. Our 1st mile was 7 min, 2nd mile was 6:18, 3rd was 6:24, 4th was 6:16, the 5th was 6:21, and the 6th was 5:53. Mile 1 was .4 uphill, mile 3 was flat and some down and mile 5 was flat and it was a hard mental mile. We finished off strong. We did a mile cool down. We had an average pace of 7:15. This was a tough run. It is now 12:23 and I am still tired from today!

Corom and I were invited to be in the high school rally. It was a competition between the freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors, 1 year old alumni, and faculty. We of course were on the faculty team. It was a blast! We did a lot of different relays and obstacles. There was a wheel barrel relay race, an obstacle race with a pie shoved in your face (Corom loved that one because he was able to shove a pie in my face).

There was a water balloon relay race…

And then a shopping cart around the track while pushing someone with an egg in their mouth relay race. When it came to Corom and I he pushed me 1st and then the 2nd time around I pushed Corom. Well I could not see above Corom and some girl in all black ran right in front of me… I hit her with no reserve and into the ground she went. I felt horrible. As she laid there, I went to help and Corom was yelling at me to go. What do you think I did? Seriously, of course I helped her and then I went. It was bad though. The good thing was, no one really saw what happened. The bad thing was, we came in last by a long shot because no one saw what happened. This was me explaining to one of the kids the commotion with the shopping cart…

I do hope that when our girls are in high school, we will be doing the same thing with them. We really had a good time!

My 3rd child had a soccer game tonight (my husband and I coach her team also). He had to work late tonight, so it was me with the 4 girls coaching soccer… It actually went well. We finished the game and headed on home. I got a phone call about 15 min after the game ended from another coach (from a different team) asking me where our team was? After a confusing conversation I realized we had a double header. 😦 I had to get our team back to the field to play another round of soccer… I felt so bad! Oh well, what do you do…

We had a cross country meet in Payson, Utah today. There were 2 other teams that came. I really like this course… I don’t know how the kids feel about it but I think it would be a fun course to race. They all ran well and there were quite a few that stepped it up and went beyond their comfort level (both the males and females). Both teams (girls and boys) took first. They are fun to watch.
I met up with Mac, Aubrey and Amber and ran 6 easy miles (Mac & Aubrey went 15 total)! I ran it in 47:27 (almost an 8 min pace). I struggled for the 1st couple of miles. Around the 2 mile mark, a little dog came out after us… That woke me up real quick. The other 3 stayed calm but I took off. I think that is what my legs needed. 🙂 I am so scared of dogs when I run, especially the little ones! Anyway, it was a good run.
