Track Meet & Women’s Conference

Today is a day for a long track meet… I was planning on going on my run right when I got to the meet. But at 4:40 a.m. 3 out of my 4 children climbed into bed with us. I got out of bed due to there being no room left and laid on the floor. I could not go back to sleep so I went out at 5 a.m. for a 55:13.56 minute easy run. I am glad I got it in.
At 6:30 a.m. the bus left for the track meet. It was cold today. :/ The kids did well

and the distance team (as individuals) made me proud.
They are shaving time off their times and I love it. Everyone just hung around…

This was the steeple chase race… One girl fell in the water part and another girl jumped on top pushing her back under… The video doesn’t do justice!

After hanging out with the kids and Corom I went to the Women’s Broadcast for General Conference. It was so good and I am glad I decided to go… I came close to not going because I was feeling really guilty for being gone for a track meet most the day and then just being home for a few hours and taking off again… I am so grateful I went! The girls had fun with dad and I was able to listen to a spiritual message.
After we watched a movie with the Barney’s (the girls were sleeping). 🙂

Running Scared, Art Award, Track & Melt Downs

A great way to get a hard run in is to run by yourself, when it is completely dark out in an area where there are a lot of trees and shrubs with the houses far apart… Yes that was my run this morning! I did start out with a couple of friends. 15 minutes into the run one if the girls felt her previous injury flaring up and the other wasn’t feeling all that great… This route is a TOUGH route! The 1st 6 1/2 miles is steep up hill (there are places on this rout that flattens out in areas but for the most part you climb). Then it is a 2 1/2 steep down and the last 2 is flat. Well I kept going and the other 2 went a different way… At this point it was 5:30 a.m. and very dark! I was climbing up the mountain with very few houses along the way with lots of places for animals, people or whatever to hide.
I ran scared this morning. 😉 everyone that knows me, knows that I will not run in the dark by myself (unless situations like this come up). I was supposed to take it easy going up the 6 1/2 and then tempoing it down for 5 miles but I ran the entire route hard!!! I ran very alert and a little scared. 🙂 I did cut the route short (by 3 miles) because there is a 3 mile loop that is awesome but only like 5 houses the entire way (I know I am a wimp)! I was ok with not doing it because I ran hard from 1 1/2 miles into my run until mile 10. On the 2 1/2 mile steep I was able to run it in 14:30ish. I ran it in 1:17.51. It was beautiful when I reached the top, though…

I came home and the girls asked if they could give Corom and I a back rub… We are training them young. 🙂

20140328-214603.jpg
My neighbor watched the 2 younger girls while I went to the chiropractor and lifted 10 minutes worth of weights…

20140328-214733.jpg
I felt a little pain in my butt again so I went right in and I don’t feel it anymore! Dr. Crockett is so good. I actually had a free back massage for 15 minutes while I was waiting… Can’t go wrong with that.
Corom went to the high school today dressed up in his bunny outfit with an Easter basket… He was answering back in behalf of Z (our foreign exchange student) to the young man that asked her to prom. He did his little hops through the school during lunch time looking for him. The kids thought it was great and weird. 🙂 The boy loved it.

I (and the 3 younger girls) went to a PTO meeting… Yes, I was talked into being the PTO president for next year. Yeah… That should be interesting. :/

20140328-215648.jpg
I went to the meeting to see what goes on in them… Yeah, this should be interesting.
We, then went to the art (Reflexions) contest awards. My oldest took 3rd in K through 2nd grade with her project. She was sooo excited!!!

Corom and I were very proud of her.
I had track practice. They went on an easy 4 mile run with 3 more laps around the track using the straight aways as strides.

We were supposed to do movie night with the girls but of course they didn’t clean their rooms and the time kept getting later so I had to cancel “movie night” with the girls… They look forward to this all week. This is what happens…

Pretty awesome!!! I don’t know who was punished more… Hopefully they have learned their lesson. Probably not though! 🙂

Running, Temple, Track & Art

I woke up at 5:30 this morning, met up with Amber and went for a 6.2 mile run in 50:06. It was a nice easy run and something my legs needed! I was limited on time this morning but it was nice to get a run in!
I hurried and got the kids ready for school and left to go do a session at the LDS (Mormon) Temple. Corom had the day off and took the girls to school…

20140327-211400.jpg
It was a very pleasant morning and I am so glad I was able to take the time to go. I was also grateful to have my 2 friends with me (Camille and Denise)… It has been way too long since the last time I was able to go.

After school, My oldest finished up her Turkey project…

20140327-212727.jpg
I headed off for track. The distance kids went on a 5 mile run. They came back to the track, ran 4 x 400’s at their goal race pace with a 2 minute break. They finished off with a mile cool down.

After dinner, we went to my oldest’s art gallery thing. 🙂 She was so excited to have it displayed!

Running, Track & Turkeys

I began yet another day with a 1:03.27 minute run… I ran a little over 8 1/2 miles and I felt good cardiovascular but my legs were the achy sore. I did start off at a slower pace for the first couple of miles but then was able to pick it up for a more solid pace.
It was crazy hair day for my girls (and there are a couple of neighbor girls, too)…

20140326-222232.jpg
My 3rd child had her speech therapy class today…

20140326-222319.jpg
We then ran errands, had neighbor kids over and then went to track.
I was the only coach there for the 1st 45 minutes and then the jumps coach showed up. I love the distance runners because I don’t have to worry about them not getting their run in! It was an easy recovery day, so I sent them on an adventure run of 45-55 minutes. I knew they would do their workout and finish off with strides. I took over the sprinters today and gave them their workout…

20140326-222851.jpg
It was fun making them do speed work! I also stayed with the throwers for the 1st hour and 15 until their coach got there… I was really impressed to see the kids (especially the captains) take over and do their workouts knowing that their coaches weren’t around! Very impressive and I was proud if the team!!!
This evening my oldest finished up her turkey project for the schools art contest tomorrow … She has worked hard on it and has really enjoyed doing it! Corom did not help her too much at all. He would explain how to do it but she did it!

20140326-223717.jpg
We did have the talk about winning and she turned to me and said, “mom! I don’t care if I win, as long as I tried and entered something in then that is all that matters!” I love her teacher! She is so good to teach these kids the importance of trying and doing… And she made my job a lot easier. 🙂

She just needs to add the feathers and that is it.
Corom worked late tonight and he actually took the foreign exchange group program (Z’s program) on a tour through the jail. They really enjoyed it.

Good night!

Speed 800’s & Track Meet

For my speed workout today I began with a 1 1/2 mile warm up. Then I ran 7 x 800’s. My 1st one was: 2:59, 2nd was: 2:57, 3rd: 2:57, 4th: 2:57, 5th: 2:56, 6th: 2:54, 7th: 2:56. Then I reconnected with Amber and we ran a cool down of 1 1/2 miles. I ran a total of 8 miles. I was so tired after I finished.
The 2 older girls had hat day at school…

20140325-224821.jpg
And my 3rd had crazy hair day…

20140325-224934.jpg
The girls played with neighbor friends here and then my neighbor took my girls to her house (thanks Camille)… I went to a track meet…

20140325-225520.jpg
It was our first Invitational and we had a few of our runners/field events kids qualify for State. It was a beautiful day (70 degrees) and our kids did well.

20140325-225700.jpg
We did overload the bus, though! 😉

20140325-225738.jpg
I came home (Corom got home the same time I did from a meeting) and we hung out (our friend Julie stopped by for a little while). It was an eventful day.
