Biking, Track & Jaws… :)

Today was not to eventful… I did watch 4 extra kids throughout the day but it was pretty quiet. While the 2 older girls were in school, the 2 younger ones were invited to go to a friends to play for a couple of hours (and then I had kids over at my house). It was nice because I was able to go to the gym and use their spin bikes. Before I went on the spin bike, I tried out the elliptical… I did it for 10 min and then headed up to the spin room. I was all alone…

It gets boring but I had the fan to myself and I brought a book. 🙂 I rode for 54 minutes and then headed down to do the lat pulls. I am getting tired of riding a bike inside but I am grateful I am able and have access to the bikes.
After school got out, I went to track practice (I had the girls with me but they wanted to go home and play with a babysitter… So half way through a neighbor came over).

After the initial warmup and agilities, the distance runners went on a 1 1/2 mile warmup to the pond. We have a pretty steep hill (short but steep) that is excellent for hill repeats. I had them run 6-12 hills (depending on what shape they are in)… Surge up the hill at 80 percent effort, then recover back down.

It is a tough workout and by the end your legs are hurting! 🙂 The kids finished off with a 2 mile cool down. They did their 2×50 leg hops and did their stretching together.
It is Friday night, movie night for the girls. This is a fun night for them. It is a real treat because they only watch on average 2 movies a week. I don’t allow the T.V. on during the week. The girls don’t even ask anymore… It is nice because they just play!

The girls went to bed. Corom fell asleep so Z (our foreign exchange student) and I went to Amy F’s house (we grabbed Julie A. on our way up). We watched… JAWS. Now I don’t know how we decided to watch it but it sure was funny and a little disgusting. I think Julie and Z covered their eyes most the time. We did have some good junk food!

Trials, Track, Work & Fun

Corom had the day off today. It was nice and we were able to hang out pretty much all day. (I did stop off at a friend’s house- Denise P.- with my youngest for a little while).

Corom and I did get into a little argument this morning but what I love about Corom is we are able to talk things through and figure out our disagreements. (I obviously haven’t listed all the arguments we have had but today was one of those that could have turned out bad if we were both being stubborn.) After the initial hype of the argument (10 min), we were able to identify the root of the issue. And individually we were able to figure out how we were the problem. This allowed us to see it from the other’s perspective!

Anyway… We went and visited Corom’s mom (G-Goat- grandma). The girls love going to her house… My 2nd did take a little spill…

I, then, went to track practice. I sent the distance kids on a 4 to 7 mile route (some of the kids are just starting off and some are in good shape). It was a recovery run from their workout yesterday.

I had to work for the Clarion Gardens. They were catering an event for the hospital. It was great food!!! That is the main reason I work for them! 🙂 Corom and the girls and Z (our Foriegn exchange student) went to a friend’s house for dinner (the Chase’s). They had a great time and I am bummed I missed out on that.
I came home and rode the good old bike for 61 minutes.

I was tired but I know that I have an addiction to exercise! 😉

I started off with a 31 minute bike ride in my living room. I’m not going to lie… I am becoming a little discouraged with not being able to run. I am having doubts with my workouts and wondering if my foot will get better! I know that spin and swimming are a great cross training exercise but I still don’t feel like I am getting the workouts that I need to achieve my goals. My foot does feel better but I am afraid to run on it to see if it will go right back to the discomfort… Ahhhhh!

Today I had a few extra kids hanging around with my girls so I decided to take them to the kindergarten playground and let them play until my 2 older girls got out (it was early out day- noon)

They played with friends and their cousin (Emery) all day. I then had track practice. We have about135-145 kids (so far) and about 40 of them are distance runners.

20140226-230925.jpg
They went on a 1 1/2 mile warmup, 7 400s and 3 600’s at a controlled fast and hard pace… With a 200 meter recovery. They ran 2 400’s and a 600, then repeated it that way… It was a tough workout for them. (Half the group didn’t do the workout because they just started track and have never run before.) They went on a distance run to start building a bass!

While we were waiting for dinner to be ready (the girls and I & neighbors- Corom had to work late) we went for a walk to the bank and to visit neighbors…

I did the whole bedtime routine and after dinner (a little after 9) I went to a friend of ours, house. We did the swim aerobics and treaded water for a while! I was able to get pool running in also. It was good! I was in the water for 53:41.

It is now late… I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open while I’m writing this. Have a good night!

Biking, Hanging Out, Track, Scouts & More…

My day started off with getting the kids ready and taking them all to school. I came home, cleaned and then hopped on the bike for 31 minutes. I have a nice trainer that I hook my bike up to.

After school a few friends came over that are also called into scouts. We had to make 112 hot dogs wrapped in dough. We were making mini rockets because our theme was “shoot for the stars”. It went by really fast with everyone there making them.

Thanks Megan B, Misty L, Camille B, Emilee S, and Stephanie R for keeping me company today.
I went to track today… We had another day of a mini track meet for everyone. After we were done with the “certain” events (which we found that we have 4 to 5 girls that can run a decent 400 :)), I sent the distance kids on a 20 to 45 minute run. We are starting with a few kids that have never ran before or have not ran for a long time. The excitement of starting a new season.

In between track and scouts (pack night), the 2 older girls went to piano lessons. We then had our Blue & Gold dinner for scouts. We have a good group of kids!

We came home, the girls went to bed, Corom had basketball practice tonight and a few of us got together for Bachelor night. I actually rode the bike for 45 minutes while watching the bachelor…. Then if course ate a lot of popcorn and cookies. 🙂

This is a late night! Fun times!

Biking, Track, Family Night & Swimming…

I love biking and spin classes but not when I have to do or for 4 days in a row! 😉 Really it isn’t that bad but I sure want to be out running! This is best for me and I know it… I went to South Valley Gym for a spin class at 5:15 a.m. My good friend Stephanie was the instructor and she did an excellent job! I rode for 60 minutes (in the sitting position). It was frustrating but I don’t want to put any pressure on the ball of my foot.

Today I helped in my kindergartener’s classroom and then did some shopping for scouts for the blue and gold banquet dinner. I worked on track “stuff” for a big chunk of my day but Camille B . came over with her kids and kept me company while I typed away (and my kids and her kids played).

I went to our 1st day of track practice… (I forgot to take pictures). We had about 145-150 kids show. It was a great turn-out but hopefully they will stick around. 🙂

We had family night and my 3rd daughter (5 years old) taught the lesson…

20140224-194849.jpg
Then the 3 older girls sang a song for Corom, Z (our Foriegn exchange student) and I (who knows what my youngest daughter was doing…).

20140224-195133.jpg
For a little family activity… We went up to G-Goats (the girl’s grandma- Corom’s mom) and caught her 4 chickens and brought them to our house…

20140224-195521.jpg
We came home, finished Family Night with a game and then bedtime for the girls…

At 9 I met up at a friend’s house and did water aerobics/swimming in her pool. They heard my foot was bothering me and called up to see if I wanted to join them for some exercise… I had a blast and it was tough. I am not a strong swimmer and I have no balance or coordination… We were in the pool for a good hour. I do plan on going again!

20140224-230144.jpg
Thanks ladies for letting me tag along!
I came home ready for bed and my youngest decided to wake up and cry for a good 1/2 an hour… Oh the joys…
