Utah Valley 1/2 Marathon, Dentist Appointment & More…

Friday: I just had a 6 mile run today with strides… I am loving these 6 mile days!

I went straight to the speed and agility coaching session and then picked my girls up (8:30 a.m.) and we had our youth city track party. We played games, handed out awards and ate treats. The day all the kids love!

My poor youngest is not allowed to eat at all this morning until her dentist appointment (10:40 a.m.). We kept her busy but for a minute she slipped away from Corom and I and she happened to have a bite of a granola bar. My oldest caught her… That happened around 8:30 this morning. Ugh… So we went to the dentist and they said they couldn’t work on her for another couple of hours. To keep her mind off of eating, we went to my friend’s house to play with her kids.

Thanks Nancy for having us over! Finally she got into the dentist about 1 p.m. I had to hold her, while they put her under. It was a little freaky and eerie to see her go under in a matter of 45 seconds. I held her in my arms until they took her into the dental room… In the big picture… She was out. I didn’t like it at all!!! But our dentist is so good that that was the only reassuring thing. Bottom left picture was when all the work on her teeth were done and we just sat there and waited until she woke up. She had 2 root canals and 4 cavities. :/

I wish I could upload videos on here… She was hilarious! The 3 older girls went to a friend’s house and Corom, my youngest and I went to Corom’s bosses retirement party… Then I slipped away to pick up my race packet for the 1/2 marathon tomorrow. I did see Ryan Hall talking to everyone… He is running-not racing the 1/2.

We (Corom, the girls and I) went to Amber’s house for a pre-race dinner. Rachelle and Tricia came and we all had a fun time.  Great women (and of course Corom and Amber’s husband)!

My 2 middle girls had a softball game and they played well! They are really enjoying it.

I came home and went to bed… Corom and the girls hung out…

Saturday: My alarm went off at 3 a.m. I was so tired and I could not wake up the entire morning. I was dreading this race a little bit… And I’m sure it was because I haven’t raced for a little while, and having to get back in shape from an injury; I lacked the confidence in what I knew I could do… Well the gun went off and immediately 3 ladies took off. I hung back a little because I knew I was not in their shape… I didn’t want to struggle the last few miles… Well I held onto 4th place the entire race and I had a few times where I went through that mental struggle… But I finished and I’m glad I did it.

My time was a little disappointing but I did what I could today… My time was 1:21.38.

At the finish line I was able to meet Ryan Hall and talk to him for a bit…

I was also able to meet the top finishers of the marathon… They came in an hour after I finished my 1/2. So fast!

The best part… I won $150 for taking 4th. :/ I didn’t know they were doing awards for the top 5. Yep, I was excited to get $!

Back at home, we did lots of cleaning and just hanging out at the house.

These 2 made lunch for everyone…  They actually did a really good job!

Corom and I went to the stake conference session for the adults and then I made Corom watch the bachelorette with me. 🙂

Lots Going On… But I Love It!

Tuesday:  I went out for my run this morning… I met up with a few HS kids on the cross country team. It was a good run.  I had our last youth city track practice this morning. It went well…

We went to the library today (after chores, etc) and then my oldest stayed for an art “class”.

Wednesday: I had my speed workout today…

I was tired through this one! :/ My last set was tough! For some reason I am having a hard time with my workouts… Just have felt more tired but oh well. I had the speed and agility class this morning (with Travis)… The kids are doing well. They are learning the basic plyo-metrics and their running form this week…

I met up with a few people at the splash pad today… The kids had a great time.

The library had a movie and popcorn day. So of course, I took the kids there (I had a couple of extra kids that I was watching… So it was nice to be able to have something different to do).

Right after the movie… The girls, the 2 extra kids and I went to our local grocery store’s block party. Free dinner (hot dogs, watermelon, chips & a drink), bounce houses, live music, face painting, etc.

The 2 middle 2 girls had a softball game… The game was kind of late (7:30) but it worked out great that way… We were able to get a free meal and I didn’t have to cook (it’s Corom’s late work night tonight)… Anyway, They had fun at their game.

I had a church meeting at my house and then it was time for bed!

Thursday: My wonderful running friends ran to my house to pick me up this morning. I only had to go 6 miles so I didn’t want to start so early.

Well they decided to run to me. 🙂  It was a nice run with the ladies.

Today I bribed the girls to clean house… They were each aloud to have a friend over after chores were done. (Not like they don’t always have someone over or each other to play with… But it worked.)

Well there was a huge mess downstairs after but a pretty big fort. We headed to our last youth city track meet. The girls and our team did really well. It is do fun to watch all the younger kids race and compete.

My oldest decided to run the mile and took 2nd in her age group. 🙂 It was fun to watch… My 2nd wanted to but was unable to because she wasn’t old enough.

The girls and Corom went to a fundraiser church auction after they finished their events, while I stayed for the rest of the meet to coach and do awards…I coach so my girls can be in the sport. It has been fun this year to watch them!  I guess at the auction (which Corom and the girls didn’t know when not to bid :/) an older gentlemen and my girls got into a bidding war over a huge stuffed animal… He won the war and then brought the stuffed animal over to the girls. That was so nice that when I heard about it I was speechless!!! He was a grandparent of one of the familes in our ward… I told the girls we will have to figure out where he lives and do something nice!

And Summer Begins…

Saturday: I slept in until 7, unpacked our car, kind of cleaned and dragged my legs into going for my speed workout. The workout didn’t go so well. I felt drained from the 1st mile until I finished. I know it had to do with driving back 15 hours on Friday and not going to bed until 2. I was able to get out by 10 a.m. but it was already warm and windy. I just felt blah. But I did it! Once again my garmin was off. :/ It was a weak signal throughout the entire run. For example on my 2nd set of the 3 mile tempo, it popped up that my 1st mile was a 7:48. Yeah… I know I was running faster than that. 🙂 So I pushed hard for the 2 sets of 3 miles. I believe I was on pace but who knows! The rest of the day was a lazy day… The kids played and Corom and I would slowly get things done.

Sunday: Corom and I were given the opportunity to go into the Payson temple to watch the dedication. It was a great experience and president Erying walked through our chapel into the one right next to ours. It was really neat! We went with our friends, the Scott’s…

The girls, Corom and I drove to Yuba Lake to meet up with Corom’s family for our brother-in-laws bday. We cooked our lunch there, played games, visited and even cut out gum from hair (my 3rd daughters).

Monday: I met up with Amber and Mac and went for a 10 mile run in 1:15 something… It was a nice run. I headed straight to cross country practice… Yep CC just started…  And we had our first battle wound of the season…

I helped with a speed and agility class for kids (ages 12-18) with our friend Travis Barney. He is doing a 6 week program… I’m helping with the running end. 🙂 It was so much fun and the kids are going to be awesome to work with!

The girls fought so much today!! It was non-stop… Summers going to be awesome. 😉 The girls did their chores and their “school” work before I took them to the library… Our local library is holding activities all summer long. It’s great! Today they talked about bugs and had a few different stations to work on…

After, I had a few extra kids here… We also had the Barneys over for dinner and then went for a nice walk with all of the girls…

Beach Camping Trip

Monday-Friday: Well one of the most important things about our beach vacation… I was able to get all my runs in; even a speed workout! It was tough to get out of the sleeping bag with it being a little chilly. 4 out of the 5 days, I had 10 milers to do (with one of those being a speed workout). I did have beautiful scenery during my runs!

We went camping with the Fullmers, Thompsons & Booths. My brother and his family came for a night to hang out… I just clumped a bunch of pictures together… Camping was a blast. Of course, the spot Corom and I chose to set up our tent had a rattle snake sitting right next to it… And we didn’t notice it until after our tent was set up. :/ Our tent was only about 2 feet from the snake. I’m so glad the kids didn’t step on it!!!   Always a great time at the campsites! It was fun for the girls to have their friends and cousins there. Corom and I had a little bit of a rough week but we were able to hide it well. Just some things that we brought from the “home” life… it was a good thing we were surrounded by friends. 🙂   The “boys” went and did their snorkeling and speer fishing, among many other crazy things.  The kids played all day at the beach… My 2nd daughter found a sea slug and was majorly slimed by it! It was a pain to clean off!   Of course we had to make our sand sculpture, sleep, be buried and look for shells, crabs, etc.   We also had a nice jump roping contest, which turned into double Dutch.   It was Bart’s bday, so Corom, Mike and Jason made him a monster pan”cake”.  The kids learned how to boogie board while the guys skin boarded. Now that was funny to watch!   There were a couple of accidents one of them being Corom holding on to the back of the truck riding his long board… He hit a sand patch and went down. The kids enjoyed the zip line that Corom, Mike, Jason & Bart put up…  We enjoyed the food and the fun hiking trails…  We went walking through the cave there and just had fun hanging out at the beach.  It was a nice break from everyday life. We really enjoyed our vacation. We had a long 13 hour drive home on Friday but it wasn’t too bad… We saw a beautiful rainbow at one point.

Anyway, we got in around 1 a.m. (My youngest did cry from 10 p.m. on due to being tired… That was a little annoying but what do you do?) 🙂 sleeping in our own beds was kind of nice!

Parties, BBQ’s, Running & Vacation Time!!!

Thursday: I went out for a solo run this morning. I slept in too late to meet up with the ladies but running alone helps me to think about “life”… And this morning was a good run.

I took my youngest back to the dentist… They put her on an even stronger antibiotic. She has 6 cavities (with 2 of those being root canals), so they are going to put her under to take care of all of her teeth issues. The specialist is coming June 12th… If her teeth still hurt after a couple of days on this new antibiotic then they would just go in and fix it. :/

 We had youth track tonight…

Then our home teachers came over and shortly after they left, I took my 2 middle daughters to softball practice.

Once practice was over, we all headed over to the Barneys for some hair cuts. Megan does such a great job of cutting hair. And it’s nice that she does it from home because it cheaper. 🙂

Their hair turned out so cute!!!

Friday: I only had to do a 6 mile run today! Loved it!!! I slept in until 6:45ish and then headed out.

On my run, I ran past a garage sale. I saw a bike rack there so I stopped and asked them to hold it for us… Corom and I (and our 2 youngest) went back after we dropped the 2 older girls off at school. We bought the rack and as we were browsing around heading towards the car, a guy stopped us and said he would give us $20 for the bike rack after we just bought it for $10.

I told him to just give us 10 for it but after 10-15 minutes of going back and forth we ended up with making $10 on the bike rack. :/ I felt kind of bad! Oh well… We did buy something else with that money. 🙂 I caught my youngest trying to milk Kitty (our dog). :/ Just a little weird but she was fascinated that milk was coming out.

At noon we picked the 2 girls up from their last day of school and then stopped off at a friend’s house for summer celebration snow cones…. Then my oldest tried to fry an egg outside on a cookie sheet. It was funny to watch her and her sisters camped out on the lawn hoping to see it cook. Yeah… It didn’t harden at all. 🙂

And finally… It was time for my oldest’s birthday party! We invited all the girls in 3rd grade. I wanted to make sure no one was left out. We did put on the invitations for no gifts because we didn’t want 35 kids bringing presents! Yes it was loud and crazy but I didn’t mind it! We did pizza and a movie.. So half the girls watched the movie and the other half didn’t. 🙂 Their 3rd grade teachers showed up as a surprise! The girls loved it!!! We had about 30-40 minutes left before the parents came so we played freeze dance… That was a huge hit!

It was a late night for Corom and I, after the party and girls going to bed, we stayed up to pack, clean and organize. We are going to Malibu, Ca to go beach camping next week (we go every year).

Saturday: I met up with the 3 of the fastest ladies in Utah for a 15 mile run (Kassi, Melody & Amber G). We saw people we knew on trail that would come and join us for part of our run…. I absolutely loved it and wish we could all train together on a regular basis!!!

The rest of th day was packing and getting ready for our California beach trip. I did take the girls to my sister’s house for a BBQ (and to celebrate my nieces bday).  My brother and his family and my Aunt came to hang out, too.

The kids had so much fun with their cousins!

Corom stayed home to finish up our fence…. We need to make sure our dog and puppies stay contained while we are gone. He did go to a neighbor’s house for a BBQ (Brett’s). After the girls and I left my sister’s we headed over to another neighbor’s BBQ (at Stephanie’s)…

It was a fun evening… Now back to packing and staying up too late! Oh, I did stop off at the Barneys to drop something off and kind of got stuck hanging out. My bad… Sorry Corom! 😉

Sunday: Everything is packed and ready to go…

We went to church… Elder Merrill Bateman came and spoke to us in our 5th Sunday lesson (to the adults)… It was a great lesson. After church, we met up with the Fullmers and the Thompson’s and headed for Vegas.

We made just a couple of stops and arrived at our cousins house in Vegas. Always a good time at Dan & Ericas!!!
