Speed Workout, Track, Fun & Speeding Tickets…

16 x 400 repeats…. Very tempted to sleep in! My alarm went off at 4:55 a.m. and I slowly and lazily got up. I met up with Mac and Amber and we ran 2.3 (about 20 minutes) miles of a warmup. I then started the 400 repeats with a 200 (1/2 lap) recovery jog. 1)1:27 2) 1:27 3) 1:27 4) 1:27 5) 1:25 6) 1:25 7) 1:27 8) 1:24 9) 1:24 10) 1:24 11) 1:24 12) 1:24 13) 1:24 14) 1:24 15) 1:24 16) 1:23. I wanted to run 10 seconds faster than my goal mile (6:07) marathon pace. I was tired but it felt good. We (the 3 of us) met up after the repeats. We ran a 15 minute cool down. I headed to South Valley Gym and spent 10 to 15 minutes in there.
After getting the girls ready for the day, I headed off for track practice (it is at 8 a.m. all week)… The distance runners went off on a 45 minute recovery run. After one of the other coaches and I bought treats for all the kids that showed up…

I took the girls to a movie with a few other neighbors to see Nut Job… Cute movie. Then we went to Booth Brothers in Spanish Fork and rented my 2 older girls a violin.

20140408-213922.jpg
That store is great and has great prices!!! My good running friend, Amber, teaches my girls piano and violin lessons. My girls love it…

20140408-214146.jpg
The violin is so small. The girls played all afternoon with neighbor kids…

Corom and I went on a date tonight (after a short church meeting) to the Hale Theatre In Orem, Utah. We saw Big River (well half of it tonight)…

20140408-215211.jpg
It was so good!!! During intermission we got a call about our taxes. The bank helped us with them this year and said we forgot to bring a form in and they needed it tonight by 9:15 p.m…. It was 8:45. We had to leave the play and hurry back home to get our form and drive to the bank. Well of course I got pulled over…

20140408-215626.jpg
And yes I got a ticket for going 9 over (he brought it down for me)… :/ We eventually got home and Corom took off on a dirt bike to head to the bank… He ran out of gas. Awesome! 😉 he did make it and now we are home and about to go to bed. Good times!

Running, Track, Party & Family Night…

The ladies and I went for a 8.7 mile run this morning. It felt great and it was a beautiful morning. I went home for a little while… Sent Corom off to work and then went to track practice… It is our spring break here and we had about 70 to 80 kids that showed up this morning at 8. Very surprising!!!

20140407-205530.jpg
I had the distance do a hard speed workout. They ran 1 1/2 mile warmup; raced an 800 with a 5 min recovery; raced a 400 with a 5 minute recovery x 3… (3 x 800’s & 4 x 400’s).

20140407-205912.jpg
It was tough… The kids were so tired. I did give them the option to finish off with 2 sets of bleachers… Some kids said they couldn’t do it but most the kids, even though they were tired, finished the workout off with the bleachers…

20140407-210122.jpg
I took the girls to a birthday party (and stayed to help out). They had fun!

20140407-210832.jpg
Neighbors and neighbor kids were over all day and then for family night we had a few families over for barbecuing and desserts.

20140407-211034.jpg
We had a good time! Well we did… I don’t know about the others. 😉

General Conference Day

We made our traditional cinnamon rolls this morning before conference started…

20140406-155116.jpg
We had the Villalobos family over to watch it with us and to eat cinnamon rolls. They are a cute family and are going to be baptized this coming weekend.

20140406-161253.jpg
In between sessions we saw a few neighbors and visited…

20140406-202643.jpg
We watched the 2nd session of conference…

20140406-202922.jpg
A few people came over for dinner (we had enchiladas) and hung out… And then it was bed time for the girls. My 3rd child and I visited a neighbor for awhile and then came home and went to bed. It was an early night for us! It is 9:18 p.m. and everyone is asleep except Z (our Foriegn exchange student) and I… But she is getting ready for bed and I hope to be asleep by 9:30! Earliest yet!!!

Sprint Triathlon

20140405-131540.jpg
Corom, Mike and I woke up this morning to beautiful skies… But it was a cold morning. I slept in the truck while the 2 slept outside. They froze and I was good with being warm… My back was a little sore when I woke up but it was not a big deal. 🙂

20140405-131856.jpg
We parked near the starting/finish line to the St. George Sprint Triathlon. A few little things to do to prepare ourselves for the race (change my bike tire was one of them)…

20140405-132234.jpg
And warming up before the race started was another thing that had to be done…

20140405-194336.jpg
Yes… Warming up in a hot tub right before you race is not the best thing to do (it relaxes your muscles), but Corom, Mike and our other friend, Brady obviously weren’t worried about it. 🙂
On with the race… A 400 meter swim (a quarter of a mile), a 10 mile bike ride and a 5k (3.1 mile) run. I am so bad at swimming… This will be interesting!

20140405-195607.jpg
This was our friend Brady swimming (he started about 20 minutes before us)… Corom is loudly cheering him on. :/
Oh the swim was the worst part!!! I am not a strong swimmer (as I just stated) and it was tough. I had to doggy paddle at one point in the race. :/ I was grateful when the kid who was counting my laps finally said I was done (the swim was in a pool… Thank goodness and it was 16 laps total). I finished that in 10:23 and ran out to get my bike and put on shoes, clothes, etc.

20140405-200209.jpg
I used my mother-in-law’s road bike… What a huge difference from a mountain bike! A road bike is a lot more smooth and a lot easier! I finished the 10 mile bike ride in 34:23 and starting off on my 5k… I saw Corom and Mike starting their run as I headed into the last mile of my run (it was a loop).

20140405-141121.jpg
I don’t know my 5k time (yet) but
I finished with a total time of 1:07.13 (the exchange times are included with this- how long it took from the swim to heading off on my bike and then from the transition from the bike to the run). I headed back out to run with the 2 (Corom and Mike)… And ran another mile and a half. They came in around 1:27. I wanted to get more running in but the food at the end looked to enticing!

20140405-161852.jpg
We ran into many friends there and they all did great!

20140405-162152.jpg

20140405-200526.jpg
We had a good time. I placed 5th overall in women and 1st in my age group. I was a little shocked. But to tell you the truth it was not that big of a race. 😉

20140405-200728.jpg
Soon after we headed home (about 3 1/2 hours). We were able to listen to General Conference on the radio on the way home. Great conference talks today!
Corom went to the Priesthood session (all the men 12 years and older in our church go to the church and listen to our Prophet and his Apostles, Counselors, etc.) We have General Conference twice a year. Tomorrow it will be broadcasted on television so all the LDS (Mormons) can see and listen to our modern day Prophet. (It was also on today and I was very grateful to listen to it on the radio.) A great talk by one of our leaders was Russell M. Nelson. He stated, “Even if everyone is doing it… Wrong is never right”. Another quote by Robert D. Hales, “Be careful who you follow.” Very good messages today!
Anyway… I picked up the girls from my sisters. They had so much fun with their cousins! Probably a little loud for my sister and brother-in-law… I then took the girls out to eat. They chose corn dogs at our local grocery store, Stokes…

20140405-202702.jpg
That made it easy! We came home and played with their new baby chick…

20140405-202942.jpg
It is so cute… The girls went to bed and 3 out of the 4 fell asleep by 7:30 p.m. 🙂 My youngest had a nap earlier I guess… So it took her a little bit longer. We watched a movie here later. I was in and out of sleeping. A long day but a good one.

Running, School, Track Meet & Drive to St. George…

I went out for my morning run at 5:30 a.m. with Mac and Amber… We went for 42:21.97 minutes today. A total of 5.2 miles. It felt good… I felt like I should have ran more but I kind of just wanted to get home! I had so much to do this morning that I would have been rushed and frustrated. But is was a nice run!
I wore one of Corom’s Hobowear t-shirts today… It is made of bamboo (94%) and 6% cotton.

20140404-161028.jpg
I am so un-photogenic but oh well!
My 2 younger girls and I went to my kindergartener’s (2nd child) classroom for their “Spring” party. We had a good time and so did all the kids!

20140404-161828.jpg
Corom met me at the girl’s school and took over… I hurried to the high school to hop on the bus to head for an invitational track meet…
As we were on our way, our bus driver got pulled over. I felt so bad for him…

20140404-210558.jpg
I love police officers and all they do for us! But this one was not the nicest today… Oh well, I guess he was just doing his job.
At the track meet, the kids raced well. They ran hard, cheered loud and ate good food!

20140404-212037.jpg
Our 2 milers raced well! It was fun to watch.
Corom and Mike Fullmer (our friend) came to the meet to pick me up. We left when the last race for our school was over. We, then, headed down to St. George for a sprint triathlon.

20140404-212527.jpg
This should be really interesting because I am not a good swimmer or I guess I can say that I don’t swim! :/ I can do pool running but that won’t help in this race. 😉 We shall see…
Our kids are playing with their cousins and having a blast! My poor sister!!!
