5 x 1000’s Speed Work

We woke up this morning to snow on the ground… That meant we were doing our speed in the BYU indoor track. I (Amber and I drove down together) met up with Blake, Jacob, and Katie this morning. There were 5 of us that did a mile and a half warmup before the speed intervals started.
My main goal today was to stay up with Blake and Jacob. These were hard 1000’s. 2 weeks ago we ran at 80% and came across the 800 mark at an average of 3 min (6 min mile pace). Today my 1st one was 3 minutes right on at the 800 (half a mile mark). 2nd 1000 at the 800 mark was 2:49. My 3rd was 2:44. My 4th interval was a 2:42 and my last (5th) 1000 at the 800 mark was a 2:43. I don’t remember my finishing times on all of them but what I can remember is… 1) 3:24; 2) ? 3) ? 4) 3:15; 5) 3:18… I believe. The guys pulled me along. My main focus was to stay with them. They were ahead of me but they did make me go faster and push harder! We did run into Jossie (an amazing fitness/health trainer)- thedailyrounds.com, Janae (hungryrunnergirl.com), and Rebecca.

We ran our 2 mile cool down with these ladies… They are all so amazing and so uplifting. I found myself wanting to be around them more. I talked them into running a few more laps with Amber and I even though they already finished their work out just to be with them! They are so positive and encouraging and it helps. The guys were great today… They made sure I didn’t back off and talked me into finishing off strong. I know I could not do this on my own! I did go to the gym after I dropped my 3 older girls off… I did 20 back lat pulls, 10 front lat pulls. I took a 20 sec break then did the same thing. 3rd set I did 10 back and 5 front lat pulls all at 50 lbs… My youngest came and helped. 🙂

I did the 20 pull-ups on the machine that helps those that can’t do a pull-up on their own. 😉 I ran a total of 8 1/2 miles this morning (I should have ran a longer warm up but that is ok). I finished off with the 2 x 50 leg hops.

In Door Track & Family Night

My girls and I went to track practice…

After their agilities and core, I sent them on a 1 1/2 mile warmup. They met me (and my girls) back at the track. I wore a whistle today for their speed workout. They ran 2 x 3 minutes at 85% pace for their mile to 2 mile pace with 90 seconds of a recovery jog/walk. Then they ran 5 x 90 seconds at 90% with a 90 sec recovery. They finished off with another 3 min at 85%. It was a tough workout!

They went on a 2 mile cool down, finished off with a couple of strides and the 2 x 50 leg hops.

Family night we had a few families over for dinner… The Downey’s, the Chase’s and the Erdman’s. It was great company and good fun.

After everyone left, we did our little family lesson and business… My 3rd child gave the lesson. She did a great job. My 2nd child did the songs and shared a few jokes. And the other 2, youngest and oldest, said the opening and closing prayer. Z, Corom and I were just along for the ride and had to answer all the questions. 🙂

Morning Easy Run

I went out for a 9 mile easy morning run at 5:30 a.m. It took an 1:10.03. I felt okay this morning… After doing a lot on Saturday (and being on my feet all day), not getting enough sleep this weekend and over eating yesterday… I guess that was to be expected. It is amazing how much sleep and nutrition plays a huge role into your work outs and every day routine! I do need to discipline myself more with these 2 categories but it is so hard for me. I love food… Junk food and I love to stay up late after the kids are all in bed. I do pay the consequences and feel it in my workouts! The nights I get good sleep, I feel very refreshed and ready to go.

Super Bowl Sunday & Fallen Officer Candlelight Vigil

For someone not too into football (me) we sure had a busy day… 1st off, I went to bed way too late last night. We had church at 9 this morning. And of course we didn’t give the girls their showers the night before… So all of that was this morning. After church we went up to my sister’s house for lunch. My mom goes home tomorrow so my brother & his family and my family went up for lunch. We went to the Booth’s house right before the Super Bowl game started. Nicole B. was in the middle of making cupcakes… Corom took over to help out.

Right before half time we headed up to our friends the Fullmer’s. More food and fun… The game wasn’t going so well for the Broncos but I didn’t even know who was playing until the day of. 🙂

We left a few minutes earlier and drove down to the Spanish Fork ball fields for the vigil for Sergeant Cory Wride. He was shot and killed in the line of duty. He served in our county… We didn’t know him but felt the need to go show our love and support to his family.

I was actually asked by KSL 5 News why we decided to come…

I tried a few times to upload the 2 1/2 minute news report but I will figure it out tomorrow.

So many people showed up to show their support… It was an amazing sight! You could feel the love there as a community.

Soccer, Catering and Movie

After my race I came home (we all went to the craft store) and then went to our indoor soccer game. Corom played as well today. The 1st 30 seconds into the game, Corom kicked the ball hard from almost half court and scored. We still lost though…

Corom did get into a little heated conversation but it didn’t last too long. We had fun and the girls were really good for us. Z (our foreign exchange student) and the girls hung out at the soccer arena and played around. I really love that our girls like to go to these places with us! I love taking them everywhere…

At home, we cleaned house and then I had to go to work and help cater an event at the Clarion Gardens. There were 2 events tonight… One group left at 6:30 and another dinner event came at 7:30… I ate so much! I had prime rib, mashed potatoes, carrots and ganosh cake with the 1st dinner event; then I had fajitas, rice, beans and tres leche cake with the 2nd event… :/ It was so good but I’m am so full! It is a lot of work but a lot of fun!

I got home around 10:30 p.m. And we watched a movie with our friends, the Fulmers. Busy day and a late night! 🙂 Fun times!
