Perfect Morning!? No Run Yet…

It is amazing how great the morning has gone but how not being able to get out for an early run throws me off regardless! It is only 7:48 a.m. and all 4 girls are showered, dressed, fed, hair done, etc. The morning breakfast mess is cleaned up and the 2 older girls are working on their homework (so we don’t have to do it after school).

It has been a smooth morning (I probably jinxed it :)). But as I said earlier, I feel anxious, worrying all morning when I will get to run. It is not like I don’t have the opportunity… I can run on the treadmill after I drop them off at school and I can even run with the cross country kids today… But I guess this is good for me to stay in check with myself and to know that running is not my life… Or is it? 🙂

Locked In!

The girls and I went to soccer after cross country practice. (The CC kids ran 8 miles with the 1st 3 at an easy into medium pace. Then from mile 3 to 4 a fast race pace mile, easy from 4-5 1/2, then from 5 1/2 to 6 a fast race pace 1/2 mile and the rest a cool down to the school.) Anyway… We had team pictures for the soccer teams…

I wasn’t able to get a group picture with my 2nd because I was in it for being their coach. While we were taking pictures my youngest happened to get herself locked in the dark, single bathroom. I was supposed to coach the game that was starting 5 min. I couldn’t talk her into unlocking the door… She began to panic! Honestly, it was a nightmare… Her screaming was loud and so sad. I felt HORRIBLE because there was nothing I could say or do to get her out. A pretty good crowd gathered around with many people trying to help…

I was able to get another parent to coach/referee my 2nd child’s game (and my oldest had her game overlapping my other daughter’s… Corom is gone for a work convention… Ahhhh). Well 20 to 25 min later the people were able to bust the door open. Looking at my daughter standing back in the corner crying made me cry! Oh it was sad!!! But she got out and I am so grateful for the people around!!! I was able to coach the 2nd half of my 2nd child’s game and we (the 3 girls and I) made it to the 2nd half of my oldest daughter’s game. What a day! 🙂

Group Tempo Run

Our run began at 6 am. It was cold and dark and I was really not in the mood to be out this morning, until I looked down and I saw these…

It literally brightened up my morning. For real… Something about new shoes makes running so much more enjoyable. I was able to get other shoes along with these New Balance shoes (which I will try out on some other runs). The New Balance shoes felt great today… I am planning on wearing them for St. George marathon (that gives me a little over a week to break them in).

Anyway… I met up with Rachelle, Amber, Scott and Melissa for a short tempo run. We ran a total of 7.85 miles in 57:47. We began with a 2 mile warm up, then jumped into a 2 mile tempo (1st one a 6:29 pace and 2nd one 6:01 pace- way too fast but I felt good). We continued with a mile recovery and then did a 1 1/2 mile tempo (6:08 pace for the 1st mile and I don’t know what the half ended up being but it was about the same pace). I wish I could hold that for a marathon… 🙂 After we finished with a mile cool down. Everyone did great and it was nice having us all there! It made the workout go by fast! I have been feeling a little tug in the back of my left leg (hamstring) that past few days. It is not painful but it is there that causes me to worry… I HOPE it is nothing!!!

What A Work Out (Cross Country)

The kids had a tough workout! We have a loop that goes around the baseball field and softball field and we break that up into 3 different routes. A long loop, medium loop, and a small loop. Long loop: 5k pace; Medium loop: between 1 to 2 mile race pace; Short loop: hard and fast!:)

They did well. They ran 4 sets, making it about 3 1/2 miles of speed. They ran an easy warm up around the school and then a 2 mile cool down.

As you can see… us coaches work hard, too, during practices. 🙂

Post Office & Errands

I ran (drove) to the post office today to get more stamps. I had my 2 younger girls with me… Trouble!!! 🙂 Those 2 feed off of each other. Anyway… When I was done buying my stamps I went to grab the girls; well only one was there (the older of the 2). She kept telling me she didn’t know where she was. Of course, I was getting a little nervous. I was looking all around for her… I heard giggling (from both girls)… This is where I found her…

I went and helped in my 2nd daughter’s class, then the 4 of us (my 3 younger girls and I) went and had lunch with my oldest at her school. Then the 4 of us picked up G-goat (grandma) and went Runner’s Corner to get new shoes!!! Yeah!!!
